We are saddened to announce that Bill Barrack passed away on Monday.

Bill had a distinguished playing career with among others Newport and Harrogate. After retiring from playing, he applied his considerable energies and talents to Harrogate in a number of positions including president and secretary.

He also represented the North on the National League Executive and served many years as secretary of the NLR North division. He was a firm believer in the core values of our game. Like many others, he worked tirelessly for rugby and his club, often doing the unglamorous and unwanted tasks without fuss, complaint or recognition.

Our condolences go to Bill’s family and to all his many friends at Harrogate and beyond.

Those of us who had the privilege of knowing Bill will miss him greatly.

Rest in peace, Bill. You have left the world and in particular the world of rugby a better place.
