Joe Harvey brings you the latest edition of ‘Club Watch’ as our National League teams continue to help their local communities and host some exciting events.

National One

Cambridge RUFC

Cambridge have launched their Enterprise Academy, with the aim of helping their players develop their professional skills off the pitch. Using links that the club have with local businesses, as well as businesses further afield, players will have a lot of support both on and off the field.

Darlington Mowden Park

Darlington Mowden Park have teamed up with Cash for Kids to make sure that thousands of local children wake up to a Christmas gift. The children who benefit are from a variety of backgrounds, and the club have categorised gifts by age for players, coaches, members of staff and fans to donate.

Plymouth Albion

Plymouth are offering fans the opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit this next week with a carol service. The Christmas Carol Rock Choir will be performing from 7:30pm on Thursday 20th December. Tickets will cost just £5 per person, which includes a mince pie, mulled wine and a raffle ticket. Added to this, kids will go free with a paying adult.

National 2 North

Chester RUFC

Fylde RFC

Although we’re looking slightly into the future here, this could be an opportunity you may not want to miss. Legendary British & Irish Lions player and coach Willie John McBride will be at the Woodlands in late March. He will even be introduced by another memorable Lion, John ‘Bentos’ Bentley as the club aim to raise funds for local disabled and disadvantaged children and young adults.

Macclesfield RUFC

Next Wednesday will see Macclesfield’s annual Christmas charity match in aid of the East Cheshire Hospice. A Macc Selects side will be playing an Old Boys side from Macclesfield’s King School. This is the fifth year that this game has taken place at Priory Park. It is a free entry game with food and drink available.

National Two South

Rams RFC

Obviously, it is the time of year for Christmas matches and Rams are no different. They’re putting out a Students side to take on Chinnor Students underneath the lights at Old Bath Road next Wednesday so this is set to be an entertaining evening.
