The second ‘Club Watch’ of 2019 is here and a number of teams have events coming up over the next month whilst some sides have kicked off the New Year on a positive note…. 

National One

Bishops Stortford RFC

A member of Bishop’s Stortford’s Ladies side is part of a team aiming to raise more than £200,000 for Wooden Spoon. How are they doing this you may ask? Only climbing Mount Everest. Former England stars Andy Gomarsall, Ollie Phillips and Tamara Taylor will be joined by Welsh legend Shane Williams as they try to climb to the top of the mountain and play a game of rugby too!

Darlington Mowden Park

Saturday 26th January will be Doddie’5 Day at the Northern Echo Arena as Darlington will be welcoming Doddie Weir to the club. It will be a double header, with the National 1 side taking on Birmingham Moseley at 3pm, before the DMP Sharks play Firwood Waterloo in the Tyrrell’s Premier 15s. Darlington will be donating an impressive 50% of the ticket sales to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation so it will be a great day out.

Rotherham Titans

Rotherham Titans will have some Sunday night entertainment on 20th January when local band Martin & Friends come to town for another night of rock at Clifton Lane. Entry to the event is free and the music starts at 8:45.

Chinnor

On February 16th, Chinnor will have their version of ‘Ladies Super Saturday’. The club are hosting two great games of rugby with the 1st XV taking on Darlington Mowden Park while at the same time, Chinnor’s Falcons side face Wimbledon.

A three course lunch will be served in the marquee at £35pp with a discounted price of £300 per table of 10
Ladies lunching will also receive complimentary admission and a glass of Prosecco.

Also, there will be a DJ after the game as well as special guest Nina Gilligan, who was a English Comedian Finalist in 2016.

National Two North

Peterborough Lions

Peterborough Lions will be hosting their third annual Robert Burns afternoon supper on Saturday 19th, prior to their game against South Leicester. There will bee Scottish entertainment, as well as traditional foods and all of this will cost just £20.

Stourbridge RFC

Stourbridge are searching for volunteers to do various jobs for the club. The club are principally looking for people to do roles in communications and facilities management.

National Two South

Birmingham & Solihull

The Bees are hoping to fill up places for their pre-match meal, prior to their fixture against Worthing Raiders this weekend. Lunch will be served at 1pm and the bar will be opened at 12:30pm at £17 per head, including admission to the game. Attendees will get a two-course meal.

Redruth Rugby

Members of Redruth’s under 7s had an afternoon to remember when one player got to accompany the Cornish Pirates players onto the pitch before the club’s Championship game against London Scottish. The youth side also got to play a game of touch rugby at half time as the Pirates trounced Scottish.
