Over the next few weeks, ncarugby.com will be introducing our new feature, ‘Season Reviews’, where we will be producing short video clips summing up the season for all 48 of our clubs.

This really was a National League season like no other.

At the beginning of March, title races and relegation battles were still burning brightly and we were set for one of the most thrilling climaxes to a campaign in recent history.

In National One, local rivals Richmond and Rosslyn Park were fighting for promotion to the Championship whilst down at the bottom, Birmingham Moseley and Rotherham Titans were scrapping for their lives.

Whilst Caldy had already stormed to the National Two North title following a staggering 25 wins from 25 matches, the play-off spot was still very much up for grabs – with Fylde and Hinckley in the running. It was even more intriguing at the wrong end of the division as a cluster of teams were jostling for safety in a gripping fight for survival.

As for National Two South, the likes of Taunton Titans, Tonbridge Juddians, Henley Hawks and Redruth were very much in the promotion picture and whilst we would have loved to see the remaining drama unfold across all three leagues, the coronavirus pandemic has halted sporting activity in the UK.

Of course, the bigger picture and the priority is everybody’s health and well-being during these unprecedented times and four weeks ago, the RFU took the decision to cancel the remainder of the season in the National Leagues.

They also confirmed promotion and relegation by using a ‘best playing formula’, which officially brought an end to the 2019/20 campaign but despite the early conclusion, we can still look back on some of the key moments and standout results from across the course of the term.

With the help of Rosslyn Park’s Media Manager Warren Muggleton, ncarugby.com will be producing daily, short video clips where we will briefly sum up the season for each team in the National Leagues.

So stay tuned!
